Hip Bursitis

The hip bursae are small sacs that are filled with a gel-like fluid. They protect the bone structure of the hip. The Greater Trochanter bursa is located on the bony point of the hip bone. The iliopsoas bursa is on the groin side of the hip. When the bursae in the hip become inflamed, you have hip bursitis. The condition is more likely to affect women than men, and may be caused by bumping your hip against a table, a repetitive stress injury, spine disease, bone spurs, calcium deposits, leg length discrepancy, hip surgery or rheumatoid arthritis.

What are the symptoms of Hip Bursitis?

  • Stiffness in the hip, or sharp ache
  • Pain when the hip is pressed
  • Pain when you walk
  • Signs of redness and/or swelling
  • Fever

Is there a regenerative treatment for Bursitis that is natural and non-invasive?

Dr. Scott Greenberg developed an alternative treatment protocol for treating bursitis. It is called Kinetic Regeneration Therapy (KRT). KRT is kinetic in that it stimulates the body’s ability to respond to injury. It is regenerative in that it naturally reduces inflammation of the bursae, supports the synovial joints of the hip and can strengthen bones structures.
KRT treatments are as minimally invasive as a blood draw and an injection and can be administered in the doctor’s office or surgery center. Dr. Greenberg’s Kinetic Regenerative Therapy uses Prolotherapy, Prolozone®, Platelet Rich Plasma and Stem Cell Therapy. He may suggest using one or a combination of the four.

A typical treatment occurs every few weeks. The treatments regenerate sinews, tendons, bursa, labrum and cartilage using the body’s own healing components. As the hip bursae heal and bones strengthen, the source of pain dissipates.

Kinetic Regeneration Therapy is an excellent choice for people who are looking for a non-invasive alternative to hip replacement surgery. KRT decreases infection risks, shortens recovery times and is opioid-free. We work with you holistically. We renew you physically and try to raise your personal sense of wellness so you become a healthier YOU.

In order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community, any patient that enters the building will be screened for the virus by having their temperature taken and filling out a questionnaire from Main Line Health. Once inside the office, patients will be asked to wash their hands immediately and may receive another temperature check. All patients will be able to maintain a safe social distance from others, as only one patient is seen per hour. The Greenberg Regenerative staff wears their masks at all times, and also ensures that all safety protocols and guidelines per Main Line Health and the CDC are being followed. Additionally, Dr. Greenberg is fully vaccinated, which further reduces possible COVID-19 transmission. At the end of the appointment, patients have the option to take a Greenberg Regenerative Medicine hand sanitizer to allow them to remain safe and healthy.
