Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex (TFCC)

The Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex (TFCC) is fibrocartilage that is located on the small finger (ulnar) side of the hand. Tiny as it is, the TFCC is an essential component in your wrist for gripping objects like a baseball bat, for weight-bearing exercises, and any wrist rotation exercise such as tennis. The TFCC keeps the radius and ulna bones connected and serves a purpose very similar to the meniscus of the knee.

The TFCC can be injured by a fall, lifting too much weight at the gym or over-rotating the wrist. At times, the injury will appear out of the blue, for no apparent reason at all, possibly due to gradual degeneration that comes with age.

  • Aching when trying to grip something
  • Pain when using a can opener
  • Pinky pain
  • Wrist looseness or instability
  • Pain when lifting weights or heavy objects
The long term success of Dr. Greenberg’s patients is attributed to a specialized approach to the examination process. Deemed “The Greenberg Method,” this diagnostic approach not only looks into the area of damage and pain, but also evaluates the mechanics and structure of the bone and joints related to the area of the pain. For instance, the symptoms of a TFCC Tear may be exacerbated by damage to the ligament and tendon structures of the elbow, shoulder and scapula. Abnormality in these regions can also put pressure across the joints of the wrist. In executing The Greenberg Method, Dr. Greenberg often discovers that conditions experienced in one area of the body are often rooted in a different area that hasn’t been treated before. While an isolated joint treatment ignores physiology and the evaluation of movement, The Greenberg Method’s full-body examination produces a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan. In return, the patient experiences a greater reduction in pain and improvement in function, which helps them get back on their feet to resume their daily routines, pain free.

Dr. Greenberg created the The Greenberg Method treatment to empower the body to heal itself. He and his team use Prolotherapy, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell treatments, to activate the body’s natural healing components, including stem cells to promote healing in the wrist and hand and regenerate injured soft tissues.

Dr. Greenberg will discuss the objectives of each treatment and explain the therapeutic option that is most appropriate for your case.

The Greenberg Method is a good choice for people who are looking for a non-invasive alternative to surgery. TGM treatments have lower infection risks than surgeries, shorter recovery times and are opioid-free. Dr. Greenberg is a holistically-centered physician who not only treats your physical injury but he also addresses You. We support your recovery through proper nutrition, supplements, and innovative therapies to nurture a sense of wellness for your body and mind.

Dr. Greenberg uses TGM Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections for carpal tunnel syndrome. PRP treatments help promote the patients’ own healing factors and cells so that they can regenerate tissue, cartilage and bone systems in the wrist.
