De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis

De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis

Located on the thumb side of your wrist are small tendons that may start to hurt when you grasp an object or make a fist. If this happens frequently, you may have De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis (DQT). Any repetitive motion such as playing tennis or golf, gardening, even lifting a baby can initiate the condition. There is no explanation for DQT, and it tends to affect women more than men. It usually occurs between the ages of 30 and 50.

What are the symptoms of a De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis?

  • Pain or aching near the thumb
  • Swelling at the base of the thumb
  • Awkwardness or difficulty moving thumb
  • Clicking sound or popping in the wrist
  • Thumb seems to stick

Is there a natural, non-surgical alternative for treating De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis?

Dr. Greenberg has been treating De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis non-surgically for over twenty years. He will perform a Comprehensive Kinetic Diagnosis, including a review of your most recent radiographs.

It is always better to regenerate than operate. To start, Dr. Greenberg will perform a Comprehensive Kinetic Diagnosis, including a review of your most recent radiographs. He will carefully manipulate your thumb and wrist and perform a test to confirm that it is DQT. He will also examine your kinetic chain, hand, wrist, elbow and beyond if needed.

If you are an appropriate candidate for Kinetic Regeneration Therapy, Dr. Greenberg will treat your DQT with Platelet-Rich Plasma treatments. PRP activates the patient’s own healing components to initiate healing of the small tendons of your wrist. A typical treatment course may call for several injections administered every 3 weeks, depending on the patient’s progress. Dr. Greenberg will discuss the objectives of each treatment and explain the therapeutic option that is most appropriate for your case.

Kinetic Regenerative Therapy is an excellent choice for those who are looking for an alternative treatment to surgery. Our team treats the whole person, not just your symptoms. We work to renew you physically and improve your overall sense of wellness, both emotionally and physically.

In order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community, any patient that enters the building will be screened for the virus by having their temperature taken and filling out a questionnaire from Main Line Health. Once inside the office, patients will be asked to wash their hands immediately and may receive another temperature check. All patients will be able to maintain a safe social distance from others, as only one patient is seen per hour. The Greenberg Regenerative staff wears their masks at all times, and also ensures that all safety protocols and guidelines per Main Line Health and the CDC are being followed. Additionally, Dr. Greenberg is fully vaccinated, which further reduces possible COVID-19 transmission. At the end of the appointment, patients have the option to take a Greenberg Regenerative Medicine hand sanitizer to allow them to remain safe and healthy.
