How Can IV Nutrition Therapy Help Me?

Balanced Diet

A perfect world would allow us to eat healthy foods to receive the proper nutrients our bodies need, but that is not the case in today’s society. Unfortunately, we are unable to get all the nutrition that our bodies need from healthy foods due to pesticides, herbicides, artificial fertilizers, and the way we harvest our produce. Fruits and vegetables can sit in freezers and industrial refrigerators for months before being sold; during this period, the nutritional content of the foods is greatly reduced. The freezing of fruits and vegetables significantly reduces the number of vitamins that can be extracted by the body. In addition, various toxic substances are used to kill or inhibit the growth of weeds and other unwanted plant pests in large-scale farm operations. This process of spraying artificial chemicals on plants alters the nutritional value. Preservatives, dyes, and sugars are also added to our food supply, which plays a huge role in the reduction of important nutrients.

Aside from the decline of nutrients in our food, many people are exposed to heavy metals including lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic. In fact, taking medications such as antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, acid blockers, statin drugs, and birth control pills can impede our ability to metabolize our food optimally. This can contribute to the difficulty of absorbing nutrients correctly and efficiently.

Our food supply is not as healthy as it was decades ago and scientists are seeing direct cause-and-effect outcomes of this, especially when it comes to the drastic increase of many chronic diseases, such as:

  • Diabetes
  • Heart diseases
  • High blood pressure & cholesterol
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Obesity
  • Cancers
  • Arthritis

What Is IV Vitamin Therapy?

Intravenous (IV) vitamin therapy is a method of administering vitamins and minerals directly into the bloodstream. It allows for the fast delivery of fluid replacement throughout the body in which a liquid mixture of vitamins and minerals are infused into the bloodstream through a small tube that is inserted into a vein. Because the treatment directly enters the bloodstream, higher dosages can be given without experiencing both side effects and losses that can occur in the gastrointestinal tract.

Benefits of IV Vitamin Therapy:

  • Faster recovery after injury or illness
  • Increased energy and wakefulness
  • Reduced signs of aging
  • Improved physical performance
  • Improved complexion
  • Strengthened immune system

What Should I Expect?

IV Vitamin Therapy is administered using an intravenous tube, similar to the one used to draw blood. You may feel a slight pinch when the IV is inserted in addition to some discomfort afterward, no more than the discomfort of getting bloodwork done. The treatment can be administered 2-3 times per week if needed. Before beginning vitamin therapy, Dr. Greenberg will run blood tests to determine the best course of action.

High-Dose Vitamin C Therapy

Vitamin C is a very common vitamin that is used in IV nutrition therapy. It is an antioxidant that helps prevent damage to cells caused by free radicals and also works with enzymes to play a key role in making collagen. IV infusion allows vitamin C to reach higher levels in the blood than when it is taken by mouth. According to studies, cancer patients who received IV Vitamin C had a better quality of life and experienced fewer side effects than those who did not.  Most of the initial research on IV vitamin C and cancer was performed at the National Institute of Heath, by the US government which showed its safety and efficacy.
